Fun Holiday Drinks for the Mom-to-be
The Holiday Season is all about celebrating friends and family! Parties and gatherings centered around food, drinks, gifts, and games are undoubtedly on your calendar this holiday season.
Of course the emphasis at most parties is usually on the drinks, which are not always “pregnancy friendly”. So, rather than sipping on a boring old glass of water try making one of these fun, holiday, non-alcoholic beverages for the mom-to-be!
¼ cup fresh or frozen blueberries
3 oz. pomegranate soda
3 oz. pomegranate juice
2 oz. white grape juice
Lemon slices, for garnish
Add blueberries to a tall glass and mash slightly. Fill glass with ice, if desired. Combine the soda, pomegranate juice and white grape juice. Pour the mixture into the glass with the blueberries and garnish with a slice of lemon.
2. Virgin Kiwi Mojito
1/4 green kiwi, peeled
1/3 lime, cut into thin wedges
6 large mint leaves
crushed ice (small cubed will work as well)
2 teaspoons agave nectar
splash of ginger ale
Put the kiwi, lime slices, and mint leaves in a tall glass and muddle. Fill the glass 2/3 of the way with ice. Add the agave nectar and a splash of ginger ale and stir. Then fill the rest of the glass with club soda and stir again. Garnish with a slice of kiwi and some whole mint leaves.
3. Berry Lemon Sparklers
1 1/2 pints raspberries or blackberries, plus more for garnish
1 1/3 cups sugar
2 cups lemon juice (from 8 lemons)
Mint sprigs, for garnish
In a medium bowl, mash the 1 1/2 pints berries with the sugar; let stand for 10 minutes. Stir in 1/2 cup water, then strain into a large pitcher, pressing with a spoon to extract any juice. Stir in the lemon juice and 2 1/2 cups more water.
Fill 8 pint glasses halfway with ice. Pour about 3/4 cup berry-lemon mixture into each glass, top with a splash of seltzer and stir to combine. Garnish with berries and a mint sprig.
4. Virgin Mimosas
