Can you imagine what it’s like to be a pregnant Army wife with your husband serving his country thousands inof miles away? Excited? Terrified? Lonely? I was thrilled to hear about Operation Shower, a new non-profit organization that produces and coordinates baby showers for expecting military personnel and their families.

I was thrilled to hear about Operation Shower, a new non-profit organization that produces and coordinates baby showers for expecting military personnel and their families. On December 8, 2007, Operation Shower will throw a mega-baby shower for 60 moms-to-be and new moms and their babies in Fort Hood, Texas. The initial Operation Shower held by Lena’s Notebook (an online magazine for Moms) and Clever Parents (a resource for parenting columnists) this summer for 17 military moms at Fort Bragg received such an outpouring of support, they believed they “were onto something” so they formed Operation Shower to honor our military personnel and bring baby showers to bases around the country. I can’t think of a lovelier way to support our troops, but I can think of some terrific baby shower gifts to send to Operation Shower! How about a baby camouflage gift set?Baby Camo Talk about being a perfect baby gift for the military baby! By the way, they also celebrate the moms with food, fun and baby shower decorations! I keep thinking about the dads who are so far away. They can’t be with their wives during the pregnancy, and most of them won’t be around for the birth. There’s a gift we can send to Operation Shower that can help connect baby and daddy–a beautiful photo album for photos of Mom before, during and after baby’s birth. If you’d like to contribute money or gifts to this amazing organization, contact Lena Morrisey 314-809-3754 or lena@lenasnotebook.com. And to everyone serving in our military, thank you!
